Q-Vo-Le Raza!!!
On a sad note, Musician, Composer, master of many instruments; especially the ‘Accordion’; Esteban ‘Steve’ Jordan’ passed away last week after a long illness. Not only did every Tejano musician, but just about every Chicano, Mejicano and even some near Mejicanos and some Anglo-Chicanos-at-Heart knew and know of Steve Jordan! Every accordionist I’ve ever known talked about Steve with reverence and admiration, and I know that he will be missed as not only an accordionist’s accordionist, but as an all around master musician that he was! Each time I had the pleasure of being on the same stage with him was a musical adventure for me and for every other musician he came in contact with! Who else do you know that dared play ‘Midnight Sun’ in Polka-time on the accordion? ‘Mercy, Mercy‘? How about singing ‘The Nearness of You’ in Polka time? He had no musical boundaries! We will miss him; but of course, since Pia was also a fan and friend of Esteban, they’re probably jamming’ in Heaven as we speak! There’s a couple of other folks up there that are probably joining in on the fun! No’ombre, Shaddop!!!
